Under the power-source development plan through 2030, the province has 7 wind-power projects with total capacity of 766 MW; 14 hydropower projects with total capacity of 74.1 MW; 5 centralized solar-power projects with capacity of 200 MW; 2 waste-to-energy projects with capacity of 20 MW; and 5 biomass-power projects with capacity of 95 MW.

For hydropower, 7 plants are currently generating electricity. Several projects are being expedited, including Nam Cat 2 Hydropower Plant, which is more than 96% complete, and Khuoi Noc 2 Hydropower Plant, which has reached approximately 95% and is expected to be completed in August 2026. Other projects are completing procedures and site clearance, with the aim of commencing construction in 2026.

Seven wind-power projects with a combined capacity of 766 MW are currently being surveyed and assessed for wind potential, while dossiers for investment-policy approval and feasibility studies are being prepared. Of these, the investor for Thien Long Cho Moi Wind Power Plant has been approved; construction is expected to begin in June 2027, with commercial operation scheduled for December 2028. The remaining projects are continuing to complete their records, assess wind potential, and carry out investment procedures.

At the conference, delegates focused on reviewing progress and clarifying difficulties in planning, investment, site clearance, grid connection, and legal procedures, while clearly defining responsibilities and solutions to remove obstacles and accelerate project progress.

Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee Duong Van Luong delivers directive remarks

In his directive remarks, Comrade Duong Van Luong, Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee, directed investors to strengthen their financial capacity and project management and proactively add personnel and resources to ensure progress as committed. Localities, departments, and sectors should strengthen coordination, closely follow each project, and promptly remove difficulties, especially in site clearance. Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee will establish specific timelines and conduct periodic accountability reviews for each project. Where delays result from subjective causes, the investor or relevant agency or locality must be held accountable. For delayed projects with protracted implementation, the province will consider extensions or adjustments in accordance with the law. To accelerate site clearance, he requested that investors sign contracts with the Provincial Land Fund Development Center and coordinate with local authorities for implementation. Localities should proactively coordinate with investors to resolve difficulties related to planning and forest-land conversion.
