According to the Northern Region Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Transportation and Agricultural Works, the project owner has handed over the entire 76.5 km alignment to the contractors for construction. The completed construction volume reached 81.95% as of August 18, 2026. Total capital disbursement to date has reached 84.35%, while 8.7% of the capital allocated for 2026 has been disbursed. The section from Bac Kan Ward to Ba Be Lake (Km0+00 - Km37+00) has been completed, and the Project Management Board is finalizing payment and settlement procedures. On the 39.5 km section from former Ba Be District (now Dong Phuc Commune) to former Na Hang District (now Hong Thai Commune), Tuyen Quang Province (Km37+00 - the end of the alignment), 18.5 km of type II graded-crushed-stone road base has been laid and 3 km has been paved with asphalt; 5 of 9 bridges have been completed; and work on the remaining bridges is underway, generally on schedule.

However, the project is facing difficulties due to shortages of type I and type II graded crushed stone; rising gasoline and oil prices, which are affecting progress; and complex weather conditions with frequent heavy rain. In addition, the road crosses complex terrain and geological formations with steep gradients, so heavy rain frequently causes slope failures at several locations, disrupting construction and requiring design adjustments to ensure the structure's safety.

Following the inspection, Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, directed the Project Management Board to swiftly finalize payment and settlement procedures for completed sections. Construction must be concentrated on sections where sites have been cleared, with efforts made to complete asphalt paving in September and October 2026. The Project Management Board and contractors should also take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate construction of stream-crossing structures. He further directed relevant departments and sectors to swiftly develop solutions to procedural difficulties related to the production and supply of materials from stone quarries, ensuring sufficient materials for the project. The Project Management Board and contractors must establish specific schedules, regularly inspect the work, urge progress, promptly resolve obstacles, and strive to complete the project as planned.
