Preserving and promoting Tac Xinh dance of Shan Chay ethnic group
On November 27, the Cultural Museum of Vietnam Ethnic Minority Groups collaborated with the Division of Culture and Information of Phu Luong District and the People's Committee of Tuc Tranh Commune (Phu Luong) to organize the Closing Ceremony for the Program on building the model for the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of Tac Xinh dance within the Harvest Festival of San Chay ethnic group in Tuc Tranh Commune, Phu Luong District, Thai Nguyen Province.

Attending the program were leaders of the Cultural Museum of Vietnam Ethnic Minority Groups; leaders of Phu Luong District People's Committee, functional departments, Ie Tranh Commune People's Committee and all people in the commune.
Tac Xinh is the only dance of Shan Chay community in Thai Nguyen. This dance is associated with rituals praying for peace and a good harvest, depicting the labor activities of the community and reflecting the spiritual life of agricultural residents, entirely dependent on natural elements.
In 2023, as part of the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Cultural Museum of Vietnam Ethnic Minority Groups cooperated with the Division of Culture and Information of Phu Luong district and the People's Committee of Tuc Tranh commune to organize the program on building the model for the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage of Tac Xinh dance within the Harvest Festival of Shan Chay ethnic group, Tuc Tranh commune, Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province.

The performance of Tac Xinh dance by San Chay ethnic group community
During the period from November 17 to November 27, 2023, the trainees were instructed and guided by artisans and individuals knowledgeable about San Chay ethnic group's traditional art. They practiced various traditional Tac Xinh dance moves, delved into the origins, content, and significance of these dances, learned the craft of making musical instruments from bamboo and plum trees, and engaged in musical performances. This period also served as an occasion for community members to meet, interact, and strengthen their unity.
The training class was conducted in Dong Tam hamlet and involved 5 knowledgeable elders who were well-versed in the various Tac Xinh dance moves. 50 trainees participating in the training class included local residents from Tuc Tranh commune, students from Tuc Tranh Secondary School and High School. Among them, the oldest student was over 50 years old, while the youngest was 10 years old.
Through the program, the artisans and individuals knowledgeable about the traditional culture of the San Chay ethnic group in Dong Tam hamlet helped students comprehend the history, content, significance, and performance forms of Tac Xinh dance moves within the cultural life of the community. Simultaneously, they disseminated these values within the community.

A representative from Dong Tam hamlet presented a set of San Chay ethnic percussion instruments to the Cultural Museum of Vietnam Ethnic Minority Groups
On this occasion, the organizing committee has presented 30 sets of San Chay ethnic costumes (20 sets for women and 10 sets for men) along with a set of percussion instruments to Dong Tam hamlet, Tuc Tranh commune. These items are intended for preservation and use in performance activities, cultural exchanges, contributing to the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of intangible cultural heritage values within the San Chay ethnic group.
