Thai Nguyen accelerates social housing development and expands access to secure housing
By accelerating project implementation, resolving obstacles involving procedures, land, and site clearance, and facilitating access to preferential credit, Thai Nguyen is comprehensively implementing measures to develop social housing. The completion of more than 2,700 apartments since the beginning of 2025 is a positive sign, adding momentum toward the province's goal of completing approximately 60,000 social housing units by 2030.
Increasing supply and expanding opportunities for stable homes
The implementation of social housing projects in recent years shows that when authorities act decisively to remove obstacles and businesses proactively accelerate progress, completed projects not only provide homes but also help create increasingly well-developed urban areas with infrastructure, services, and living environments.
Accelerated construction of Famia Song Cong Social Housing Complex by its developer
Famia Song Cong Social Housing Complex, developed by VITC High-Tech Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, is among the projects expected to make a notable impact. It is being built on more than 56,800 m² of centrally located land in Bach Quang Ward, with convenient transport connections to industrial parks, administrative centers, schools, and services in the locality and neighboring wards.
Nguyen Van Hien, Secretary of Bach Quang Ward Party Committee, said that social housing development is particularly significant to the locality as the area is experiencing strong industrial and service-sector growth and attracting an increasing number of young workers. Projects such as Famia Song Cong both help meet housing demand and drive urban development, stabilize the People's lives, and create a civilized and modern urban landscape.

Experience from these projects shows that for social housing to truly reach residents, progress and construction quality are as important as supply. Shortening the time required for investment preparation, site clearance, land procedures, and construction so projects can be brought into use sooner will directly improve workers' access to housing.
For many young families, owning a home remains a difficult challenge as commercial real estate prices continue to rise while incomes have not kept pace. Nguyen Thi Luong, a resident of Tich Luong Ward, said: "I used to think that buying a home was far beyond our reach, but current support policies have given my family greater motivation to keep striving".
Alongside supply, preferential credit policies are becoming an important "lever" that helps residents gain access to social housing. According to Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Director of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies' Song Cong Transaction Office, numerous preferential loan programs are being implemented to assist people seeking to purchase social housing. Vietnam Bank for Social Policies coordinates with local authorities and developers to facilitate residents' access to capital. Suitable interest rates and long loan terms give young employees, factory workers, and public employees more opportunities to secure stable housing.
Decisive action to remove obstacles and achieve the target of 60,000 social housing units
The goal of completing approximately 60,000 social housing units by 2030 places considerable demands on Thai Nguyen. Despite positive results, implementation may still encounter difficulties involving investment procedures, land, site clearance, financing, and the progress of individual projects.

In response, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Construction to coordinate with relevant departments, sectors, and localities, closely monitor the progress of each project, and apply the principle of "resolving each obstacle where it arises". This is considered an important measure for preventing prolonged project delays while strengthening the accountability of regulatory authorities and developers.
Thai Nguyen has recently implemented numerous measures to create favorable conditions for businesses. Mechanisms, policies, and procedures have been streamlined, including the application of the "60% Green Lane" mechanism for businesses. Local authorities have also prioritized site clearance for many projects, enabling developers to begin construction sooner.
Under the schedule assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, An Phu Social Housing Complex Project in Pho Yen Ward, developed by Nhat Minh Land Investment Joint Stock Company, is to be completed in 2030. The developer, however, aims to accelerate implementation and complete the project earlier, with 2028 as the projected target. According to Tran Dang Hoi, Director of Nhat Minh Land Investment Joint Stock Company, the company has received strong attention and support from provincial leaders and local authorities while implementing the project. This support has made it easier for the company to navigate procedures, carry out site clearance, and implement the project.
Discussing the province's direction for social housing development, Pham Quang Anh, Director of Thai Nguyen Department of Construction, said: The Department has taken the lead and continues to coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and localities to strengthen oversight and resolve difficulties and obstacles during implementation. The province will also intensify investment attraction, shorten administrative procedure processing times, and improve the effectiveness of state management in social housing development.
Achieving the social housing development goal effectively requires a combination of factors: suitable land, streamlined procedures, capable developers, quality-assured construction, closely controlled progress, and credit suited to residents' financial capacity. With the authorities' partnership, businesses' initiative, and continually improving credit policies, the "dream of a stable home" is gradually becoming a reality for employees, industrial workers, and low-income residents across the province.
