At the meeting, agencies and localities reported on progress in preparing general plans for the province’s central urban area, the southern and northern central urban areas, a new grade-III urban center, and 10 newly established urban areas; they also outlined difficulties and obstacles encountered during implementation.

Accordingly, to date, the Department of Construction has submitted the general planning task for the northern central urban area to the Provincial People’s Committee for approval; it is preparing to submit for approval the general planning tasks for the southern central urban area, the province’s central urban area, and the new grade-III urban center. For the 10 newly established urban areas, appraisal has been completed and the Provincial People’s Committee has approved the general planning tasks.

At the meeting, localities also requested access to the province’s planning information and a 1:5,000-scale map to support planning work.

Delivering directives at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Linh asked departments, agencies, units, and localities to accelerate progress and complete every step of the planning process; he set a target of completing the planning schemes by October 20, 2026, for submission to provincial agencies for comment. During implementation, units must promptly report any difficulties and obstacles to the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee for direction and resolution. The Department of Construction was assigned to prepare advisory materials for the Provincial People’s Committee to report to the Provincial Party Committee in September 2026, in accordance with a notice from the Office of the Provincial Party Committee.
