Determined to achieve 2026 targets to the fullest extent possible
On the afternoon of September 8, Comrade Vuong Quoc Tuan, Member of the Party Central Executive Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the September 2026 regular meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to assess August socioeconomic performance, set key tasks to be implemented in September and the remaining months of the year, and discuss several other important matters.

The Meeting was attended by Comrade Nguyen Dang Binh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; leaders of the Provincial People's Council and Provincial People's Committee; committees of the Provincial People's Council; and leaders of the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments and agencies.
According to the assessment presented at the Meeting, the province's socioeconomic performance during the first eight months of 2026 continued to show many positive signs. The index of industrial production (IIP) rose 28.85% year over year in August and 22.15% in the first eight months, one of the highest growth rates in recent years. The electronics, processing, and manufacturing industries remained major drivers of growth. As of August 31, state budget revenue exceeded VND 19.769 trillion, equivalent to 74.5% of the estimate assigned by the Prime Minister and up 21.1% year over year; land use fee revenue reached VND 3.232 trillion. Agricultural and forestry production maintained positive growth. The total area under key seasonal crops was estimated at 67,300 hectares, up 0.7% year over year. More than 7,900 hectares of concentrated forest were planted, reaching 106% of the target. The province continued to step up promotion and enhance the value of the Thai Nguyen tea brand.

Delegates discussing matters at the Meeting
Import-export activity grew strongly, with total trade turnover reaching USD 45.97 billion in the first eight months, up 33% year over year. Exports totaled USD 26.3 billion, helping Thai Nguyen maintain a large trade surplus. Additional foreign direct investment totaled approximately USD 8 billion, ranking second nationwide after Ho Chi Minh City.
The province continued to prioritize accelerating public investment disbursement, which has reached approximately 62% of the 2026 capital plan. It aims to reach 70% by September 30 while resolutely removing obstacles and accelerating site clearance and investment project implementation.

Commending the results achieved, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan asked all levels and sectors to remain proactive and decisive and give the highest priority to carrying out tasks in the remaining months of the year. Priorities include promoting economic growth, attracting investment, increasing budget revenue, accelerating public investment disbursement, and removing difficulties for businesses.
Alongside economic development, he asked agencies and localities to continue organizing cultural and sporting activities to foster an upbeat atmosphere among the people; make thorough preparations for activities marking the 195th anniversary of the establishment of Thai Nguyen Province (November 4, 1831 - November 4, 2026) and the 2026 Thai Nguyen International Tea Festival; and help promote Thai Nguyen to domestic and international audiences. He expressed confidence that, with the outstanding results recorded in the first eight months and strong determination in leadership and administration, Thai Nguyen is building solid momentum for a breakthrough and striving to achieve its 2026 socioeconomic development targets to the fullest extent possible.
At the Meeting, delegates also discussed and commented on more than 30 reports and proposals that the Provincial People's Committee will submit to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, Standing Board of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Party Standing Committee, Provincial Party Executive Committee, and Provincial People's Council for consideration. Key matters included adjustments and allocations to the 2026 public investment plan for implementing the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period; designating Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee as the competent authority for the Tam Dao Tunnel Construction Investment Project connecting Thai Nguyen and Phu Tho provinces; and the Lang Son-Thai Nguyen Expressway Construction Investment Project. For these matters, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee asked the relevant agencies to incorporate the comments and urgently finalize the drafts with the required quality and on schedule so that the Provincial People's Committee can submit them to the competent authorities for consideration and decision in accordance with regulations.
