Thai Nguyen Province Cooperative Alliance Congress: Developing collective economy to contribute to building a prosperous and beautiful Thai Nguyen province
On the morning of April 7, the Thai Nguyen Province Cooperative Alliance formally held its First Congress for the 2025–2030 term, bringing together 300 official delegates from agencies, units and localities across the province, as well as relevant organizations and cooperatives, cooperative unions, cooperative groups, people's credit funds and enterprises that are members of the Provincial Cooperative Alliance.

In attendance were Comrade Cao Xuan Thu Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Comrade Vu Duy Hoang, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Comrade Dong Van Luu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrade Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of a number of relevant departments and agencies.

The Congress carries particular significance in reviewing and evaluating the results of collective economic and cooperative development during the 2020–2025 period, while charting the direction and tasks for the new term under the overarching goal of “Continuing to build a strong Thai Nguyen Province Cooperative Alliance, fulfilling its core driving role, driving the development of the collective economy and cooperatives, integrated with digital transformation and green transition, raising member incomes and contributing to building Thai Nguyen province in the new era.”

According to the political report presented at the Congress, over the 2020–2025 term, the province's collective economic sector continued to be consolidated and developed in both scale and quality. The number of newly established cooperatives exceeded the annual plan every year; a total of 518 new cooperatives were founded during the term, bringing the provincial total to 1,329 units with more than 47,000 members and workers. To date, Thai Nguyen province has 7 cooperative unions comprising 45 member cooperatives, with a combined charter capital of VND 49 billion. Cooperatives now operate across an increasingly diverse range of sectors, from agriculture and small-scale handicraft industry to construction, commerce, services and tourism, thereby contributing to job creation, raising the incomes of local residents, promoting the building of new rural areas and driving local socioeconomic growth.

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Thai Nguyen Province Fatherland Front Committee, emphasized that the collective economy, with cooperatives as its core, plays an important role in the overall economy, particularly in rural and mountainous areas. Following the provincial merger, the province now covers an area of more than 8,300 km² with a population of nearly 1.8 million, creating favorable conditions for expanding regional linkages, attracting investment and developing the economy. Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen acknowledged and commended the efforts of the collective economic sector in recent times and called on the Provincial Cooperative Alliance to continue focusing on a number of key tasks: strengthening public communication and raising awareness of the collective economy; improving mechanisms and policies to support cooperatives in accessing land, capital, science and technology and human resources; enhancing the role of state management; and promoting the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening and innovation in cooperative operations — all with the aim of renewing and improving the effectiveness of the Cooperative Alliance; advancing the development of the collective economy in tandem with digital transformation and green transition; and building new-model cooperatives organized along value chains to raise member incomes.

In her congratulatory address, Comrade Cao Xuan Thu Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, affirmed that the Congress is an event of special significance, marking the opening of a new phase of development for the collective economy and cooperative sector in Thai Nguyen province. She expressed strong endorsement of the direction set for the 2025–2030 term and emphasized the need to implement Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW and the 2023 Law on Cooperatives effectively; to support cooperatives in restructuring and improving their access to resources. Collective economic development must prioritize quality and efficiency; consolidate underperforming cooperatives and encourage mergers to build larger-scale entities. The application of science and technology, digital transformation and green transition must be accelerated; transparency increased, e-commerce participation expanded and a circular economy fostered. At the same time, the operations of the Cooperative Alliance must be renewed, staff capacity upgraded, value chain linkages strengthened, market outlets secured and competitiveness raised.
The Congress unanimously elected the Executive Committee of the First-Term Thai Nguyen Province Cooperative Alliance for the 2025–2030 term, comprising 51 members. Comrade Nguyen Van Dung, who served as Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Alliance during the 2020–2025 term, was re-elected with confidence to continue as Chairman for the 2025–2030 term. Delegates also elected a delegation to attend the Seventh Congress of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance for the 2026–2031 term.
Collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements receiving commendations
On this occasion, 2 units were honored with the Emulation Flag of the Provincial People's Committee; 22 collectives and individuals received a Certificate of Commendation from the Provincial People's Committee; 20 collectives and individuals received a Certificate of Commendation from the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; and 10 individuals received the Commemorative Medal “For the Cause of Cooperative Development.”
