Thai Nguyen targets 675 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher by 2030
In the first six months of 2026, the National Target Program on New Rural Area (NR) Construction in Thai Nguyen Province continued to be implemented synchronously and effectively, with the attentive direction of all levels, sectors, and localities. Key tasks were carried out as planned, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of residents and promoting socio-economic development in rural areas.

Accordingly, the province has focused on mobilizing and effectively using resources to achieve NR construction targets, while also researching and proposing NR content and criteria for the 2026-2030 period. Along with this, the Scheme on Infrastructure Development for Disadvantaged and Extremely Disadvantaged Communes for the 2026-2030 period is being implemented to gradually complete rural infrastructure, create favorable conditions for production development, and improve residents’ quality of life.

In addition to reviewing and classifying groups of communes for new rural area construction, the province also continues to maintain and replicate rural economic development models linked to community-based tourism, digital transformation, and the promotion of local cultural identity. The inspection of the pilot model for developing OCOP tourism service products in La Bang Commune is one of the activities aimed at assessing effectiveness as a basis for replicating suitable models in the time ahead.
The “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) Program continues to be implemented effectively, becoming an important driving force for rural economic development. The province currently has 598 OCOP products certified at 3 to 5 stars, including 13 products meeting the national 5-star OCOP standard. The economic value of products increases by 20% or more after being recognized as OCOP products, helping to raise incomes for residents, expand consumer markets, and build brands for the locality’s distinctive products.

The implementation of the NR Program and OCOP not only contributes to shifting the rural economic structure in a modern and sustainable direction, but also creates momentum for production development, improves the competitiveness of local products, and gradually builds livable rural areas that meet development requirements in the new period. By the end of 2026, the whole province is expected to have 618 OCOP products rated 3 to 5 stars; by 2030, 675 OCOP products rated 3 stars or higher, including at least 15 products rated 5 stars.
