Thai Nguyen: Launching Humanitarian Month 2026
On the morning of April 22, Thai Nguyen Province Red Cross organized the Launching Ceremony of Humanitarian Month 2026 at Mang Non Theater, Thai Nguyen Children’s House (Phan Dinh Phung ward), themed “80 Years — A Humanitarian Journey for the Community”, commemorating World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8). Attending the Launching Ceremony were: Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Fatherland Front Committee; Comrade Dong Van Luu, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Comrade Nong Quang Nhat, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; along with representatives of provincial departments, agencies, enterprises, philanthropists, and a large number of officials, association members, and volunteers.

Humanitarian Month 2026 is being implemented in the context of the global humanitarian movement continuing to face numerous challenges, demanding a stronger collective effort from the community to support vulnerable individuals and to spread the spirit of compassion and solidarity. In recent years, humanitarian work across the province has consistently received attention from Party committees and authorities at all levels as well as coordination from various sectors, mass organizations, and the business community and philanthropists. In 2025 alone, Red Cross associations at all levels assisted more than 176,000 cases in difficult circumstances, with total activity value amounting to over VND 133.5 billion, contributing positively to ensuring social welfare.

Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Comrade Dinh Quang Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Fatherland Front Committee, emphasized that in the context of the province continuing to maintain economic growth momentum, humanitarian work must be carried out in a synchronized and effective manner to help ensure social progress and equity. He called on authorities at all levels, relevant sectors, and localities to continue creating favorable conditions for the Red Cross to uphold its core role, while also calling on the business community, organizations, and individuals to actively respond to Humanitarian Month by joining hands to care for people in poverty and vulnerability, so that no one is left behind.

The Organizing Committee presenting bicycles to students in difficult circumstances who strive to excel academically across the province

At the Launching Ceremony, Thai Nguyen Province Red Cross received pledges of support and partnership from 55 agencies, organizations, and individuals, with total support value reaching VND 7.7 billion, aimed at assisting individuals in difficult and vulnerable circumstances across the province.

Families in difficult circumstances receiving support for the construction of Humanitarian Houses

Also within the framework of the Launching Ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented construction support grants for 10 Humanitarian Houses for households in Dong Hy commune and Linh Son ward; extended livelihood support to 10 households in Phu Binh commune (VND 5 million per household); and granted funding under the “Humanitarian Address” sponsorship program for a number of students in difficult circumstances at a support level of VND 18 million per student per year. In addition, the Organizing Committee presented support to 3 outstanding students and donated 20 bicycles to students who have overcome hardship to excel academically. Furthermore, Thai Nguyen Volunteer Club continued its regular support for 16 students in especially difficult circumstances, with total annual funding of VND 288 million.

Through these practical activities, Humanitarian Month 2026 in Thai Nguyen continues to affirm the core role of the Red Cross in humanitarian work, contributing alongside Party committees and authorities to the effective implementation of social welfare policies and spreading the spirit of mutual support within the community
