Immediately after kickoff, Thai Nguyen FC pushed forward and quickly opened the scoring. In the sixth minute, striker Victor Mansaray positioned himself well for a corner from the left, rose high and headed the ball into Quy Nhon United’s net.

With the lead, the home side played more confidently and continued to press the visitors’ goal. In the 39th minute, Thai Nguyen doubled its advantage through an effective attacking move. Trung Thanh burst forward at pace and delivered a well-placed cross for Mansaray to finish from close range, making it 2 - 0 for Thai Nguyen FC. His first-half brace made Mansaray the standout performer for the home team.

Before the end of the first half, Quy Nhon United pulled one back. In the 45th minute, Gia Viet headed home from close range following an attacking move to reduce the score to 2 - 1 and give the visitors hope of earning a point.
In the second half, Thai Nguyen FC deliberately slowed the tempo and organized a tight defense to preserve its advantage. Quy Nhon United increased pressure continuously in the final minutes, but disciplined defending and an assured display from goalkeeper Phan Dinh Vu Hai prevented the visitors from finding an equalizer.

Thai Nguyen FC ultimately defeated Quy Nhon United 2 - 1, earning three points in its first National First Division match of the 2026 - 2027 season.
