Thai Nguyen welcomes over 5.2 million visitors in first half of the year
In the first six months of 2026, the Thai Nguyen tourism sector recorded many positive signs, with strong growth in visitor numbers and revenue. The whole province is estimated to have welcomed 5,251,716 tourist arrivals, up 16.3% year-on-year compared to 2025. Of which, international visitors reached about 178,457 arrivals, up 35.7%; domestic visitors reached 5,073,259 arrivals, up 15.7%. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 7,352 billion, up 59.6% year-on-year.

These results were achieved thanks to the province organizing many large-scale tourism promotion activities, helping to spread the image of Thai Nguyen's land, people, and cultural identity to large numbers of domestic and international visitors.
Notable activities included the 2026 Tourism Season Opening Program themed “Thai Nguyen: A Symphony of Mountain Lake and Tea in the Clouds”, along with a jet ski racing performance at Nui Coc Lake Tourist Area; the art program “Echoing Heritage Amid the Vast Forests of Ba Be” at the Ba Be Lake Special National Relic and Scenic Site; the Famtrip program to survey and experience spring festivals; the Thai Nguyen Provincial Tourism Promotion Conference in Hanoi; and participation in the Conference to sign a cooperation agreement on tourism development linkage among the expanded Northwest provinces for the 2026-2030 period in Son La.

In addition, the province coordinated with Heritage Magazine, part of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation, to organize a promotional Photo Tour program, while also stepping up communication to introduce the locality's distinctive cultural and tourism values.
Tourism communication continued to be prioritized, with 105 news items and articles, 630 images, and 79 video clips posted on digital platforms. Promotional activities attracted more than 3.53 million visits to the Smart Tourism Portal, the Thai Nguyen Tourism Website, and other digital media platforms, helping to improve the effectiveness of destination promotion.

With positive growth momentum in visitor numbers and revenue, along with continuous innovation in tourism promotion activities, Thai Nguyen is gradually affirming its position as an attractive destination in the northern midland and mountainous region, laying an important foundation for achieving the 2026 tourism development goals.
