Phu Thong Fort is a national-level historical site associated with the assault on Phu Thong Fort on July 25, 1948 by the main forces of the Vietnam People's Army. This was one of the typical fortified-position assaults in the early years of the resistance war against the French colonialists, helping to accumulate valuable experience in the art of attacking the enemy's solid defensive strongholds and laying the groundwork for the victories of our army in later major campaigns.
The project to restore and embellish a number of structures at the Phu Thong Fort national historical site in Phu Thong Commune, Thai Nguyen Province has a total investment of VND 20 billion guaranteed by the Ministry of National Defense, with the Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command assigned as the investor. The planned items include the overall site planning of the relic area; the restoration of the command house, working house, gate, fence, system of trenches, bunkers, and combat gun emplacements, along with auxiliary works, the grounds, and the road leading up to the relic area.
The restoration and embellishment of the Phu Thong Fort national historical site aims to effectively serve the education of revolutionary traditions for all classes of the People
During the survey and assessment of the current state, Colonel Ngo Tuan Anh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Commander of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command, requested that the consulting and design unit continue to carefully study historical documents to ensure that the restoration faithfully reflects the appearance of the Phu Thong stronghold during the resistance war against the French colonialists. The implementation of the project must preserve the original elements to the greatest extent, clearly express the military-tactical characteristics of the structure, and harmoniously combine the preservation of historical values with the landscape, environment, and overall aesthetics of the relic area.
According to the plan, the project strives to break ground in early July 2026 and to be completed before December 2026. Once completed, the structure will contribute to preserving and promoting the value of a typical revolutionary landmark ("red address") of the Viet Bac region, effectively serving the education of revolutionary traditions and patriotism for officials, soldiers, and all classes of the People.
