Thai Nguyen joins hands to build homes for policy beneficiary families
Implementing the Government's policy on support for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for biological children of resistance activists exposed to toxic chemicals, Thai Nguyen Province is mobilizing the synchronous involvement of the entire political system, the armed forces, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations, and the resident community. Not only a social security policy, the program also reflects the moral principle of "When drinking water, remember its source," helping policy beneficiary families have a safe, stable place to live and gain greater confidence in the care of the Party and the State.

Armed forces and residents of Cho Ra Commune helping the family of Mr. Hoang Van Dinh dismantle their old house to prepare the site for the new house

In early May 2026, the old fibre-cement-roofed house of the family of Mr. Hoang Van Dinh (biological child of Mr. Hoang Van Than, a resistance activist exposed to toxic chemicals), in Tat Dai Hamlet, Cho Ra Commune, was gradually dismantled with the joint effort of armed forces officers and soldiers, union and association members, and local residents. After many years living in a deteriorating house, worrying about leaks in the rainy season and heat in the dry season, Mr. Dinh's family will soon have a new, more solid home. For policy beneficiary families still facing many difficulties, a house is not only a shelter from rain and sun, but also a foothold for stabilizing their lives.

Sharing his emotion at receiving support to build a home, Mr. Dinh said: "For many years, my family has always hoped to have the means to repair our house so we could feel more at ease whenever it rains or the sun is harsh. Now that the State has supported us with funding, and officials and fellow residents have come to help dismantle the old house and transport materials, my family is deeply moved. This is truly a great source of encouragement for us."

Immediately after the Province's decision approving the support list, Cho Ra Commune promptly reviewed the actual conditions of each household, developed a specific implementation plan, and clearly assigned responsibilities to each organization and mass association. The goal is not only to complete the works on schedule, but also to ensure quality and suitability for each family's living conditions. In addition to the funding provided, Party committees, authorities, armed forces and local residents are also directly contributing labor days, helping to dismantle old houses and transport materials, helping households reduce difficulties during the construction process.

Comrade Trieu Anh Chu, Chairman of the Cho Ra Commune People's Committee, said: "For policy households, especially families with meritorious contributions, the locality is determined to provide support with both responsibility and feeling. In addition to State funding, the Commune is also mobilizing additional labor days, materials and the joint efforts of the People so that households can reduce their difficulties during home construction."

That same urgent atmosphere is also taking place in Bac Kan Ward. Toward the end of May, the family of Mr. Trieu Van Giang (biological child of Mr. Trieu Van Khoat, a resistance activist exposed to toxic chemicals), residing in Residential Group 1B, was busy dismantling belongings and the house, with the attentive help of officials, armed forces, youth union members, and fellow residents in the Ward, in preparation for starting construction of a new house. For many years, his family lived in a cramped, deteriorating house but lacked the means to repair it. Having received support to build a new house, Mr. Giang shared with emotion: "This is a very great joy for my family. We clearly feel the care that the Party, the State and the locality have shown for policy beneficiary families. With a solid house, my family will feel more at ease in stabilizing our lives and caring for our children."

Under Decision No. 1029/QD-UBND dated April 17, 2026 of the Provincial People's Committee on approving the list of subjects who are biological children of resistance activists exposed to toxic chemicals for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses within the Province in 2026, Bac Kan Ward has 13 households eligible for support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. In order to ensure the progress and quality of the works, local authorities not only provide funding support but also regularly accompany households throughout the construction process. Accordingly, local authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and proactively, flexibly, creatively, resolutely and vigorously implementing tasks and solutions, striving to complete the program before July 27, 2026.

Comrade Vu Xuan Quang, Chairman of the Bac Kan Ward Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said: In the spirit of "thinking must be clear, determination must be high, effort must be great, action must be resolute, work must be carried out with a high spirit and clear focus and priorities, each task must be completed once started, and responsibilities must be clearly assigned by person, task, time, accountability, result, and product," the units concerned regularly track the construction progress of each household, while also proactively mobilizing additional socialized resources to support funding and labor days for the families. This is because eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for policy beneficiary families is not only a social security task, but also a practical act of gratitude toward those who have dedicated themselves to the country.

Officers and soldiers of the Cho Ra Commune armed forces contributing labor to dismantle an old house in preparation for building a new house for a household whose members are biological children of resistance activists exposed to toxic chemicals

In 2026, Thai Nguyen Province as a whole has 136 households among the subjects who are biological children of resistance activists exposed to toxic chemicals receiving support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, of which 91 households are building new houses and 45 households are making repairs. In order to mobilize the strength of great unity, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has been and continues to direct its member organizations and the Fatherland Front committees of communes and wards to step up communication and mobilize union and association members and the People to promote the spirit of solidarity, under the motto: "Whoever has something gives what they have; whoever has money gives money; whoever has labor gives labor; whoever has little gives little; whoever has much gives much." The Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs requires communes and wards to develop specific plans for each household, clearly determining the start and completion times, and to set up Zalo groups to regularly update progress and promptly resolve difficulties arising during implementation. The Department of Construction has also designed a number of typical house models suited to actual conditions and local cultural identity for households to consult and choose an appropriate construction plan. Meanwhile, the Provincial Military Command is developing a plan to coordinate with military units stationed in the area to organize field marches combined with mass mobilization work, focusing on contributing labor to dismantle old houses, transport materials, and build new houses for households… The resolute involvement of the entire political system, together with the spirit of solidarity and sharing within the community, is creating a strong ripple effect for the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses within the Province.

The new houses not only help policy beneficiary families have a safe place to live and stabilize their lives, but also reflect the responsibility, feeling, and the moral principle of "When drinking water, remember its source" of today's generation toward those who sacrificed and dedicated themselves to national independence. For families who are biological children of resistance activists exposed to toxic chemicals, this support carries even deeper meaning, because it is not only a sharing of material support, but also a form of compensation and encouragement for the hardships caused by the consequences of war.

From these houses of gratitude gradually being completed in Cho Ra, Bac Kan and many other localities, the effectiveness of a sound policy can be clearly seen when it is implemented with the responsibility of the political system and the compassion of the community. Each home built is one more family with a foothold to stabilize their lives, while also helping strengthen the People's confidence in social security policy, policy on people with meritorious contributions, and Thai Nguyen Province's humane and sustainable development goals.
