Overview of the Opening Ceremony

Delivering the opening remarks, Comrade Doan Van Cong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that in recent years the mass physical training and sports movement in the province has continuously developed; in particular, badminton is a sport favored by a large number of the People, suitable for many age groups, with a strong movement in localities, agencies, and units. Organizing the tournament not only creates a venue for exchange, competition, and health improvement but also helps spread the movement of physical training following the example of the great Uncle Ho, building a wholesome cultural life in the community.

This year's tournament brings together nearly 200 athletes from 22 communes and wards and Thai Nguyen University, competing in 7 events: men's team, women's team, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. This is an occasion to assess the quality of the movement and the professional standard of badminton in the province, and to identify and select outstanding athletes to supplement the provincial team for the 10th National Sports Games.

The Organizing Committee called on athletes to compete in the spirit of “Solidarity - Integrity - Sportsmanship - Progress”, delivering exciting matches and demonstrating willpower, resolve, and aspiration to excel, while requesting that referees officiate objectively and accurately and that support units coordinate closely so that the tournament is conducted safely, in compliance with the regulations, and to a high professional standard.

According to the Regulations of the 10th Thai Nguyen Provincial Sports Games 2026, the Games will feature competition in 19 sports: cross-country running, 7-a-side football, volleyball, karate, vovinam, chess, Chinese chess, Go, badminton, shuttlecock kicking, taekwondo, traditional martial arts, table tennis, soft volleyball, athletics, stick pushing, tug of war, crossbow shooting, and pickleball. Of these, the badminton event runs from August 1 to August 10, 2026 at the Duc Xuan Ward Gymnasium, with 7 sets of medals to be awarded. Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, the athletes began competing in the events according to the schedule arranged by the Organizing Committee.
