Developing Thai Nguyen province's industry in 2026 towards a green, modern direction
On January 19, the Standing Board of Thai Nguyen Province Party Committee issued Plan No. 43-KH/TU on implementing the Scheme on developing provincial industry in a green, modern direction for the 2026–2030 period in 2026, aiming to create clear changes right from the first year of deployment and contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term.

The plan identifies key tasks including thoroughly grasping, propagating and strictly organizing the implementation of Scheme No. 12-DA/TU; enhancing the responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially the heads in organizing implementation; promoting the role of the entire political system, business community and People in developing industry in a green, modern direction.
In 2026, Thai Nguyen sets the target for the industry and construction sector to account for 54.53% of GRDP; industrial production index to increase by 14% compared with 2025; and 100% of operating industrial parks and industrial clusters to be equipped with centralized wastewater treatment systems meeting environmental standards. The province strives to establish one new industrial park and six industrial clusters; processed and manufactured industrial products to account for around 90% of total export value; and the proportion of industrial workers to exceed 45% of the total employed workforce. At the same time, the province aims to ensure economical and efficient energy use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 10% compared with the conventional development scenario.
To achieve these targets, Thai Nguyen focuses on renewing the industrial growth model toward in-depth development, shifting from quantity-based expansion to improving quality, technological capacity and labor productivity. Priority is given to developing a circular economy, green and clean production and efficient use of resources and energy. The province encourages enterprises to innovate technologies, accelerate digital transformation and apply achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; strengthen linkages between FDI enterprises and domestic enterprises; and form research and development centers, new product development hubs, technology incubators and high-tech industrial parks.
At the same time, the province restructures the industrial sector in line with the Provincial Master Plan for the 2021–2030 period, prioritizing industries with high technological content and added value and that are environmentally friendly, such as electronics, mechanical engineering, metal production and food processing. Textile and garment, building materials, wood processing, chemicals, rubber and handicraft industries will continue to be maintained and reasonably expanded. Supporting industries are identified as a key sector to enhance self-reliance and deepen participation in global production chains.

Industrial development space will be restructured in a green and modern manner, in line with the conditions of each region. The southern area will focus on attracting high-tech industries, electronics and mechanical engineering. The northern area will prioritize mineral processing, agro-forestry processing, energy and building materials industries. The eastern area will develop mineral extraction and processing, garment production and tea processing. The western area will link agro-forestry processing and handicraft industries with tourism development. The province also pays special attention to developing eco-industrial parks, high-tech industrial parks, green industrial parks and carbon-neutral industrial parks.
The Provincial Party Standing Committee leads and directs comprehensively the implementation of the Plan; assigning the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to concretize contents, clearly assigning tasks, responsibilities, resources and implementation time for agencies, units and localities. The Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations strengthen propaganda, mobilize People and enterprises to participate and simultaneously supervise the implementation process.
The implementation of the Plan to implement the Scheme on developing industry in a green, modern direction in 2026 is expected to create an important foundation for sustainable growth, improving competitiveness and the quality of industrial development of Thai Nguyen province in the new period
