Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visits Mai da Nguom Archaeological Site
On the afternoon of December 13, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trinh Xuan Truong visited Mai da Nguom archaeological site (Than Sa commune). Accompanying him were leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reporting to the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee on scientific evidence proving the value of Mai da Nguom Archaeological Site

Mai da Nguom is one of the typical archaeological sites with especially important value in researching the history of the prehistoric period of Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Through many excavations since the first one organized in 1981, leading scientists in the field of archaeology have discovered tens of thousands of stone and bone artifacts and traces of prehistoric human residence.

At Mai da Nguom Archaeological Site, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported to the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee on the excavation process and results achieved through research phases; the scientific and cultural values of the Site; as well as the work of conserving and promoting the Site's value in recent times. Accordingly, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector has been actively advising on solutions to conserve Mai da Nguom Archaeological Site intact, while connecting the Site with historical and cultural relics in the area to gradually effectively exploit tourism development potential.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trinh Xuan Truong highly appreciated the active involvement of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector and the local authority in the work of conserving Mai da Nguom Archaeological Site intact. He emphasized that Mai da Nguom Archaeological Site is not only a priceless cultural asset of the locality but also a common heritage of the nation. Therefore, the conservation of the Site needs continued attention, while pushing methodical and scientific research and archaeological activities. On that basis, research and advise on directions to effectively exploit the values of the Site, serving traditional education, associated with developing archaeological tourism products and "back to the roots" tourism in a sustainable direction.
